2024 M.E.N.D.ing Miles Virtual 5K FAQ
What is a Virtual 5K?
A virtual 5K can be run or walked anywhere, in your neighborhood, a park, a race track, or even on your treadmill at home!
How do they work?
Simply register for the virtual 5K, run or walk the race during the dates of the 5K, then share your pictures on social media with the hashtag #MENDingMiles5K. You will be mailed a race packet which includes a t-shirt, customizable bib to wear while you run/walk, and your finisher medal. Registering by April 27 will ensure you will receive your packet before May 5.
What are the dates?
The 5K is any time between May 5 - May 12.
May 5 is International Bereaved Mother’s Day and May 12 is Mother’s Day in the U.S. This is a perfect way to remember your baby and to recognize yourself as their mommy. This 5K will unify M.E.N.D. families and all baby loss families across the U.S. as we share on social media and support each other in our losses.
Who can participate?
Anyone! Young, old, fast, slow. You can run/walk in memory of your baby by yourself or as a group with your family, friends or other M.E.N.D. families. Make sure to share this with your family and friends who don’t live near you so they can run/walk in memory of your baby, too!
If you live near a chapter of M.E.N.D., check with your local chapter to see if anyone is planning a time to walk as a group.
What is the cost?
The M.E.N.D.ing Miles Virtual 5K has packages from $45 per person to register to get a finisher medal, customizable race bib, and commemorative t-shirt to $10 for a medal.
What distance do I run/walk?
This is a 5K, which is about 3.1 miles. If you can only walk a half mile, that’s ok! Do what you can.
Do I have to record my time?
No, but you are welcome to post your time on social media with our hashtag or post your time on our Facebook page!
Where do I post on Social Media?
We have a M.E.N.D.ing Miles Virtual 5K Facebook page, search @MENDingMiles5K. You can also tag us in your posts on Instagram @mommiesenduringneonataldeath. Use our hashtag #MENDingMiles5K
Who does this benefit?
This 5K benefits the ministry of M.E.N.D. (Mommies Enduring Neonatal Death) and our various chapters throughout the U.S. During registration, you can designate which chapter you would like to receive credit for your participation or you can opt to have it benefit the general M.E.N.D. operating fund which supports ALL of our nationwide efforts. M.E.N.D. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that supports families after the death of a baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death.
Can I walk/run in memory of my baby?
YES! Wear your MENDing Miles 5K shirt, your bib, use a hashtag for your baby, write about your baby when you post on social media. Your family and friends can walk/run in memory of your baby, as well.
When is the last day to register?
In order to receive your race packet before May 5, please register no later than April 27. Registration will remain open through May 12, while supplies last.
NOTE: If you register after April 27, we cannot guarantee that you will receive your race packet prior to the end of the race window.
Register early to ensure you receive your race bib, t-shirt, and finisher medal prior to the beginning of the race window.
